Hello my family!
I have some time between classes and decided I would update this since I haven't really talked to anyone but Amy and Dad in awhile. As you all probably know, mein Computer ist kaput. Something is wrong with the place that reads the power cord, and I'm sure it will be easy to get it fixed when I'm back in the states but right now it sure is a pain in the ass! I have a laptop that Jochen let me borrow for the rest of the semester to use at my apartment, but I spend a whole lot of time on the computer lab computers in the building where our classes are. This crisis came at a horrible time for a number of reasons. First of all, I had just gotten back from all my traveling and had just put all my pictures on my computer, so I can't show anyone any pics of ANYTHING until my computer is fixed. I don't even want to write about my trips because I'm so sad I don't have any pictures to post :-( You guys will hear all about them eventually. Second reason the timing sucked: it was registration time for classes for next semester, which is all done online and is complicated enough when you don't have a whole bunch of scheduling conflicts (which I of course did). I got it all figured out eventually, but it was impossible to fit physics in anywhere, and I had planned on and was hoping to get physics out of the way before senior year (I have to take it for the architecture concentration, unfortunately). But I am overloading (taking five classes instead of four) for the LAST time and after this brilliantly planned semester, I only have four classes that I have to take to graduate, which is AWESOME because there are 8 classes left to take--4 per semester. That means I can split up my hard required classes and take two of those plus two joke classes and have a relatively chill senior year next year. P.S. don't even get me started on the fact that I graduate next year. Anyways, my choice of fifth class this semester is pretty amazing...a 90 person lecture on the history of magic and witchcraft since 1400. I'm thinking the course won't be kicking my ass, and it's also taught by the best history professor we have who happens to be the head of the history department. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm also taking another english/linguistics class, which we all know I love, so I will have even amazing linguistics facts to bore everyone with :-)
In other news, Mom, Dad and Amy get here in 12 days. Enough said.
In OTHER news, last night Laura and I went to our favorite Italian restaurant where it's the same waiter every night, and all the sudden he decided that he should give us like a million free things. When we sat down he brought us the most amazing champagne drink I have ever had and said (all in german, of course) that since we never order ourselves anything interesting to drink he had to take it upon himself. Then we had our dinners and in the grand tradition of German dining we sat around for about an hour and a half after we were done, and just as we were about to ask for the check he brought out a huge dessert and set it in front of us and told us that he has to work and if we don't give him something to do he'll find things to do himself. So we ate our huge dessert, asked for the bill, and when he brought the bill he also brought a cappuccino for each of us to "make the meal complete". How awesome is that!
